Social grant

The social grant is awarded to students who are in a precarious social situation. If you think this applies to you, keep reading to find out more.

Conditions for obtaining a social grant

  • the student must not exceed the limit of 26 years of age.
  • to have a recognised qualifying family income, established for child benefit purposes, which does not exceed the amount of the Living and Subsistence Minimum of the family and a coefficient of 1.5,
  • bring the Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant to the ICC

Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant

The Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant issued by the State Social Support Authority confirms, that qualifying family income, established for child benefit purposes, which does not exceed the amount of the Living and Subsistence Minimum of the family and a coefficient of 1.5. Income received for the 3rd quarter of the year. It is necessary to bring a new current Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant to the ICC every year by the end of October.

Application for a social grant and award of a social grant

You must express your interest in the grant by completing the electronic form on the UWB Portal and sending or personally submitting the original or a certified copy of the Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant to the Information and Counselling Center. The procedure:

  • Log in to your UWB Portal.
  • Click on “Studium” (Study) and “Moje studium“ (My Study) and “Moje údaje“ (My Data).
  • Enter your bank account number, all grant money will be arriving in this account.
  • Submit your Application for the Social Grant.
  • Send or personally submit the original or a certified copy of the Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant to the ICC.

The grant is awarded from the beginning of the calendar quarter after completing the application — application and the delivery of the Statement for the Purpose of Awarding a Social Grant. A student studying in more than one degree programme is eligible for more than one social grant.

Social grant payment method

The grant is paid retroactively for the previous quarter. The date of payment is determined by the Rector’s decision. In the months of July and August the grant is not paid. The social grant amount may change, its amount depends on the minimum wage.
